Mammography
The Mammography Service at Saint Mary’s Hospital is accredited through June 2014 by the American College of Radiology. Its mammography accreditation program is directed by radiologists and medical physicists.
“When you see the ACR gold seal, you can rest assured that your prescribed imaging test will be done at a facility that has met the highest level of imaging quality and radiation safety,” the ACR says. “The facility and its personnel have gone through a comprehensive review to earn accreditation status.”
In addition, Saint Mary’s mammography service is accredited annually by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) through the Mammography Quality Standards Act and Program (MQSA). According to the FDA, Congress enacted MQSA to “assure the quality of mammography nationwide,” which encourages the early detection and treatment of breast cancer. Saint Mary’s current accreditation is valid through September 2012.
