Trauma
Saint Mary’s Hospital is dedicated to providing the highest quality care for trauma patients. Our Level II Trauma Center was re-verified in 2009 by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma, which commended Saint Mary’s for providing “superior trauma care.” This distinction means that Saint Mary’s continues to meet national criteria that assure its trauma center capabilities.
The trauma center has the resources necessary to care for patients from the moment they present with any type of traumatic injury, including a 64-slice CT scanner that provides high quality, high speed results to help quickly and accurately diagnose trauma patients.
Saint Mary’s Hospital physicians and surgeons work as a cohesive team that includes general surgeons, trauma surgeons, neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiologists and many others skilled in the care of complex, multi-trauma injuries. As a result of our affiliation with Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, Saint Mary’s is also the only facility in Waterbury that provides pediatric trauma care.
